hi guys..i have an issue with my 5920g, and can't figure out what is wrong..
this issue has occured both on windows 7 as well as on windows 8...

while doing some work on laptop, it goes into hibernate mode by itself, i ll press the power button to turn it on, and it might either turn on and get to hibernate again, or continue my work..
this hasn't occured on playing game etc..i m working with several tabs open on a couple of browsers and writing code on notepad++

i tend to think that this can't be a overheating issue, because when i use it for presentation with projector (extend screen mode) and i keep it running for the presentation for 4-5 hours, it hasn't performed weird at all...

in presentation i use a usb pointer, so i don't get in touch with laptop at all..this is the only and main difference in contrast with other cases when the problem occurs..that i actually use the laptop, keybord etc..

could hibernation be caused by graphics card?
could hibernation be caused from vibration while using the laptop? some bad connection somewhere? because with the usb pointer that there is no vibration, the problem hasn't been noticed..

    Neither seems plausible.

Take a look at power-saving options in Windows. It may not be hardware-related at all. In fact it doesn't seem possible that it would be a hardware problem- BSOD- yes, reboot- yes but hibernation- no.

i agree with you, but can't think of anything else..
when the lid comes down, and laptop gets into hibernation, is it triggered from a switch??
could what switch be short circuited and cause hibernation on vibration..??

There's a physical switch along the hinges or a magnet as par as I remember.

Note that Acer laptops generally go into hibernation whenever a critically low battery charge is reported. So, a faulty battery can easily cause sudden hibernations.

sorry, forgot to mention that all times that it occured it was on wall charger...

for some reason, i m thinking that something has to do with the switch? or the ribon cable of the lcd? don't know..
haven't been able (looking the datasheet) to spot where the lid switch is..

last time it occured, was when i left my mobile phone at the area on top of the escape button..the exact next minute laptop went to hibernate state for no apparent reason..so i guessed mobile touching that area interfered? in some way..
no possible, but have no other explanation.. not to mention that i cannot reproduce it..

disable the option in power setting that puts the laptop to sleep when lid closed. see if that fixes it if not ts another issue

i managed to reproduce it using a little magnet...
it seems that close to the blue led line there is the lid switch located (probably magnetic) and for some reason (too sensitve? etc) it would turn the pc off..
it happened once with my mobile first yesterday, so i took the magnet and experimented..and was able to find it...

i hope that to be the problem afterall... :)

when i deactivated the sleep action on lid close, and used the magnet, the lcd screen would just go black.. and be removing the magnet, it would come back..
