For some reason the sound icon keeps vanishing after a little while bottom right of my laptop. The volume one with the green arcs stays but the simple icon vanishes, any ideas?
Thank you...![]()

Is it the red icon that vanishes?
If it is then go to Control Panel and double click on Acer HD Sound Manager then go to the bottom right, just above the OK button there is an "i" button.
Click on it and a new small window appears. Make sure the "Display icon in notification area" is checked in this new window. -
Click on the 'i' but there is nothing in there i can change apart from the language...
-
should be a round button to click near bottom RIGHT side of window
-
Just gone into control panel to go to the icon and check, and the icon has vanished. This is the probelm that im having. The icon in control panel and botton right of the screen after some time of the machine being on, they close down, why is this?
-
CLICK the little < arrow to the far right of the systrat (where the time is shown),, windows hides inactive icons
-
I dont have that active and all icons are showing all the time, but that icon closes after some time (acer e-audio) and when it does it vanishes from control panel also...???
-
Weird.
If that really bothers you, then try reinstalling your audio drivers. -
never heard of acer eAUDIO... is that brought up by the green E button?
-
No, but i will try installing the software again, if I can get anything to work that downloads from the acer website
-
6.0.1.5470 downloaded the latest drivers from the acer website, for vista sp1 and now when you go into the control panel its all different for sound devices. Now i dont seem to have 5.1 on either hdmi or spdif and i certainly dont have as many options in hdmi for certain things like supported formats. Why is this?
Why is surround sound speakers greyed out and why cant i configure spdif settings? -
since i don't have or use those features i can't be of much help,,
but you might consider re-installing the AUDIO DRIVER from the DRIVER & APPLICATIONS cd you should have created as a part of the process of making your FACTORY RESTORE DISKS
