Hi, hoping someone can help.
I have been the proud owner of an Acer 6920 for 2 months now.
However, I have encountered problems with really quiet audio levels in particular when using applications such as Skype or Windows Messenger. The Alert tones as all very quiet or inaudible. I did not have this issue with my old HP laptop.
I have checked the obvious things like volume mixer settings they are all at max.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

If the sound is fine in other applications, that's a software issue, it doesn't have to do with the fact that it's a 6920.

...but not in all.

I am convinced that there is something not setup correctly as the audio issue probably affects most application (if not all). -
Try to update the driver maybe this will help. You have realtek right?
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
The problem may be in your codecs too..If the you experience low sound after the driver update, try to wipe out your codecs and install them again. -
I will also try to reinstall the codecs but I am much happier with the sound now. -
Or it could be the settings... check the Realtek Audio Panel for the surround settings.
Later Edit> great, you had your problem solved. -
Glad to see that your problem is solved. Realtek is not a great chip but at least the drivers support is good...they make at least one new version every month

ATG are the REALTEK DRIVERs up to ver 2.0 yet?
i need to upgrade soon... or else i feel i've negelected my PC -
