    Acer 6920 installed 4gb ram and it says only using 2.99gm of it.. Is there a way to fix it?

    Start msconfig- go to the second tab, click "advanced options" and make sure that there's no limit to RAM (it should be un-checked)

    It has to be a software issue- I do have a 6920G in my family and it works fine with 4GB with no modifications whatsoever.

    your using intergrated graphics, 1gb has been reserved for it.

    That's all that is available because the rest is being used by the video, as it is shared.

    Doesn't the GM965 use unified memory (that is, dynamically allocating system RAM for video purposes rather than reserving RAM for exclusive use)? In that case, update your video drivers.
