I was all ready to build a Dell XPS 1530 when I saw this in my local Best Buy.
It has 2.0 processor T5750 the Dell has 2.4 processor T8300
Both have 4gb ram
Both have 320gig hard drive and finger print reader and built in webcam
Acer has Blue Ray Rom
Acer has I believe a better graphics card - 9500M GS (Dell 8600GT)
Dell has 1440 X 900(15.4) Acer has 1366 X768 (16 inches)
Acer also has a nice barrel hinge for the screen.
Acer is $1099(1 year warranty 2 extra years is a rip off from Best Buy) Dell $1539 (3 year warranty)
I am a teacher and basically want it for power points and storing files while I am in China teaching. I might like to play some games such as Sim City or Knights of the Old Republic.
The Dell seems to offer some better things but then so does the Acer.
There is also an 18.4 inch 640gig hard drive version for $1399. Damn these ACER'S are cool looking and they seem to be quite well made over the white keyboard versions. Is the Dell processor going to make a HUGE difference over the ACER processor? And is the screen resolution really a big deal - my current HP is 1280 X something and it seems fine to me - the ACER looks better than mine.
It's hard to tell - so many options. The rumour over the 8600GT failures also leading me away from Dell.
thanks for any advice

Hum, Dell 8600 graphics seems to be dieing a lot, but the Dells
t-8300 will beat the Acer t-5750 badly.
I would buy neither.

For your needs.. get the cheaper one.

The Acer is a great laptop. You won't notice a difference in the processors for your usage.

Where do you live Key22? I just saw the 6920-6507 advertised on a best buy flyer and it has the exact same specs as what you stated except the graphics card was a 9600M GS. I live in Toronto by the way.

Hold on a second - I think you might be overdoing it in terms of computing power for your application.
Do you really need the dedicated graphics card? If all you'll be doing with this system is PowerPoint and the occasional low-demand game, why the 9500M GS or 8600M GT? Especially considering it'll eat up your battery more than an integrated card.
If you really like the Aspire 6920G, why not go for the integrated graphics card version, the 6920? According to Acer Canada's product catalogue, the 6920-6875 will have the same specs as the 6507 you mentioned, but instead of the 9500M GS it has the Intel GMA X3100 integrated card, a DVD Super Multi drive instead of a Blu-Ray drive, and a T7500 CPU at 2.2 GHz instead of the T5550 at 1.83.
It'll be only $849, but it's got a release date of July 20th.
If you can wait, I'd seriously give that a look.
Or if you want power in an integrated graphics card, I hear the new AMD platform is incredible. I think HP's got that.
