Hiya guys. I seem to have a problem installing drivers for my 6920G. Whenever i install an official graphics driver be it from my recovery disk or the latest driver update (14/7), my screen goes blank. I can still hear windows running in the background like the alert sounds and such but the screen remains blank. Does anyone have the same problem?

I fixed it by installing some of the forceware drivers but i would really like to know why a brand new 6920G would have a problem with the official drivers.

Try the same drivers on a clean Windows installation, maybe your configuration got something screwed up. Anyway... it does come with anything installed, right? So, why trying to reinstall those pesky drivers?

Speaking of upgrading drivers, I'm thinking of going up to 175.61 myself this weekend (went back to 174.51 with last factory default restore).
I've seen about three different methods to upgrade drivers, each more complicated than the last. Which is best? Does it really make a difference?
    1. Use the setup.exe given, reboot.
    2. Uninstall drivers, reboot, use setup.exe, reboot.
    3. Uninstall drivers, reboot into Safe Mode, use DriverCleaner, reboot, install drivers, reboot.

i'd vote for #2 kinda.....,,,, boot into safe mode... uninstall drivers... reboot,, cancel windows attempts to load drivers... then run setup

Makes sense to me. If TF2 does the whole flicker-crash-recover-sloooow thing again, I'll perform the upgrade.

will uninstalling the drivers first still allow me to rollback to the previously used ones? ive been afraid to try it coz i might not be able to rollback.. which is the only way i get the correct working drivers again

Well, that's why you should have a copy of the original drivers ready to install just in case.

thats the thing installing even the original drivers would cause the problem... but its fixed now... i went into safe mood.. uninstalled the old drivers... installed the new ones... rebooted... and it worked.. had to try it one or two times though...

so am i haha... oh and so people know, uninstalling drivers DOES take away the ability to rollback the driver... you could probably do a system restore if something goes wrong but im not sure
