    Hey,

I've had the Acer 6920G for quite some time, I realized I should put a stop to throttling/downclocking.

I tried the several ways which came from this site, especially from flipfire and DarkSilver. I already undervolted my cpu, but after I played L4D2 for about 10 mins it started to throttle again. And the post which DarkSilver made was to go to regedit and change some settings in the RightMark CPU Utility, I've done that yet it still throttled. :(

I also attempted to go to BIOS and check if I could disable EIST, but there was no option. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this? I've updated my drivers and everything, and I also upgraded to Windwos 7 - but it still stays the same way.

Hey sexyheaven69, welcome to the forums!
Did you read the Definitive Guide to Throttling? It includes the NBR-approved recommended method of stopping the throttling without undervolting; it's called ThrottleStop.

Yes I have tried that, the newer version of ThrottleStop would not allow me to click the box "Chipset Clock Mod" it's all greyed out. Can't even change the percentage

But even with the newest version of ThrottleStop my laptop will start to throttle again after 10 minutes of gameplay. :(

Try this older version then - it worked for me when I gave it a test run.
And if throttling is persisting, you might actually have a legitimate thermal issue. When was the last time you cleaned out the fan vents on your system?

Okay I'll give it a try.

I got my laptop around 1 year ago, haven't cleaned out the fans since then. Should I definitely consider it?

Oh yeah. The 6920G has a mesh screen in front of the fan intake; over time, that screen collects dust and reduces the fan's ability to cool the system. Pop the bottom plate off and give it a good cleaning.

(yes, it's a bit of a bad design call, but better an easy-to-clean mesh screen than having the fan and copper heatpipe get all dusty)

Thank you so much, L4D2 2 hours has not throttled, CS:S 2 hours no throttle. I guess it was the older version of ThrottleStop.

Yeah, I'll give it a clean once I finish my finals :)
