    Hi Everyone,

I noticed some of you are using Acer 6920G with Windows 7 (TehSuigi for example).

I only recently upgraded from Vista and experienced serious degradation of battery life. It went from 2:45 to less than 2 hours immediately, and today it was closer to an hour.

I was wondering if anyone else experienced this problem and how you dealt with it. I thought maybe a BIOS upgrade could fix it, but I haven't tried this yet. Some claim it's a OS issue, some claim it's a manufacturer issue. Any feedback is appreciated, as I need to go on a trip soon and I need my battery working :(

    Thanks in advance,

    El Morte

Welcome to Windows 7, my 8930 has a 25% battery wear since installing same. We are not the only ones that have this issue, Microsoft is aware but according to this article, http://blogs.msdn.com/e7/archive/2010/02/08/windows-7-battery-notification-messages.aspx, one might conclude that they are washing their hands of the issue.

    It is not Windows problem...
Don't game while using the battery, it will heat up the battery causing more wear.
And don't calibrate the battery it should have at least 5% at any point in time draining the cells too much will also cause wear.

Also note that Batterylife is not static it is dynamic based on usage patterns because the power the system is consuming is not the same at any one time.

Didn't experience the issue at all, still getting ~3 hours battery life on my 8-cell.
Used to get more, but that's because the battery's almost 2 years old.

I get even more battery life in Win7 than Vista (both 64-bit). My battery is almost 2 yrs old and I have very little wear. My battery can last on low brightness and wi-fi on for more than 3.5 hours. The only thing I've noticed though is Win7 is less stable than Vista for some reason. I get random weird crashes and freezes without changing any hardware and a clean install of Win7.

    Thanks for your replies.

Maybe I'll try my luck and email Acer. I'd like to believe it's normal wear & tear, but the actual difference (not just reported difference) was noticeable immediately. MS is trying to wash their hands from it, but honestly I'm not convinced.
