    Hi there,

I'm new to the forum so hi but i have a problem with my nvidia drivers.

    Laptop:Acer 6920g, Nvidia 9500M GS, Vista 32-bit

    Problem:

Whenever I upgrade to the latest NVIDIA version drivers on laptopvideo2go, I have a problem with my screen brightness and vista power plan.

Currently I have the nvidia driver 8.17.11.9581 installed (195.81).

If I unistall any other higher version driver from acer's default driver than the power plan and screen brightness work, however if I use the latest driver then the problem happens.

    Thanks :)

195.62 and its cousin 195.81 both have this issue with the 6920G.
Stick with 186.81, the prior release, and you'll be fine.

ok thanks, im back with 8.16.11.8681 and screen brightness settings and power plan works fine. The bad thing is that using older drivers will affect gaming performance.

Not in all cases, and even then not by much.
For whatever value 3DMark06 runs provide, 195.62 was equal or slower than 186.81.

Yes. You need to use the Benchmarking tools(3Dmark06) to check the performance changes on different Forceware(Driver).

Currently, I find Forceware 186.82 is the best for my AS6920G. Got 485X Score on 3DMark06 with my Overclock.
Some people claim that Forceware 186.81 is the best because Driver/Forceware will have different effect on different machines(even the same models).
