Before purchasing the Acer 6930 or 8930, I would like to know if they are capable of being upgraded to the new mobile quad-core processors when released.

These are centrino 2 based platforms correct? And if cannot accept the quad-cores, what platform can?

    Thank you!

The current Aspire notebooks cannot. There is no BIOS support atm. And the new QCs probably need a different, revised Socket P '....(Probably)
But the platform is the same --> Montevina

Thank you for clearing that up.

I have a 6920G and really like the new 6930 (remove the cinetouch and add number pad)
Would have considered purchasing if quad core ready but no reason to upgrade, will just wait on the Acer quad core machines.

    Thanks,
    James
