1st post here - Hello !
My Aspire 6930 has been a great computer, and I am not running to the store to replace it. However, ever since it has been new, it has regular visits from the BSOD imp. I have upgraded to HDD to a Hitachi 1TB and am very happy. I have now upgraded to Windows 7, and the problem has been following me uninterrupted.
Everytime I boot the PC, I get an error message saying that a USB device is not recognized by the PC - when there is nothing attached. It is a ghost USB device. Ever since I brought the PC home the 1st day till now I get this error message.
I've spent $$ on tech support and still the same problem. I'm considering a BIOS update.
Are there any thoughts? I've read that you don't mess with a BIOS update unless you really need to.
Is this that time for me?
Please advise - Thank you in advance.

If I were you I will first update all the drivers to the hardwares and softwares, if bsod shows again then you can update the bios. I have updated the bios on a couple of laptops and its a straight forward process and hasn't done any damages to my laptops.

There are a lot of devices that are connected via USB inside your laptop. Maybe USBDeview from NirSoft - freeware utilities: password recovery, system utilities, desktop utilities will shed some light.
