My apologires if this is in the wrong section.

I'm having a problem with my Acer 6930g cutting out after an hour or two of being on due to overheating.

    I've d/l NHC 2.0 to ahve a butchers at the settings :-

    CPU Clock - 1995Mhz
    CPU Load -9%

    CPU Temp - 71"C
    HD Temp - 60"C

Obvisouly the program is throwing up a warning as these are over 55"C.. The laptop is basically a year old, same as is when bought, how can i bring the temp down? cleaning fan? cooling pad? different settings? i've had a search on a few pages but couldnt find a definative.. guide for an idiot.

    Any help please guys/girls??

I would guess you need to disassemble the laptop and clean the fan module. I have many laptops and they all require fan cleaning every 6-12 months.

I was in the same situation like you until someone told me to clean the fan, and once I opened the fan assembly, it was completely clogged up from the inside by the dust.

Based on my experience, Acer laptops are not easy to be disassembled to the point that you can safely get the fan out, so if you are not good at this you may want to find someone to do it for you professionally.

CPU temperature is quite OK but HDD is very hot which indicates that the whole inside of the laptop is very hot.
6930 is easy to service as it has a huge service hatch that covers most of its underside- I would open it, remove the fan, clean the heatsink and apply new high quality thermal paste on both CPU and GPU.
