My Aspire6930 powers up, will allow me to get to the BIOS but after the initial "ACER Empowering People" welcome screen it simply goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor in the top left corner of the screen. Before this began happening the last thing I got was the Blue Screen Of Death. Now I can't get to Vista and the XP install disc I have won't do anything even though I can change the boot sequence and you can hear the disc.

Anybody have any idea what's going on here???

Initiallly I was going to suggest that your HDD was on the way out, but if its not even booting off the CD with the boot order properly set sound more like a fault with the northbridge on the motherboard - if thats the case then your looking at getting Acer to do a repair. Is it still under warranty?
