    Hi all,
I bought an Acer 6930g LED display to replace the cracked standard one, after installation theres a problem, it appears that the screen wont turn off! Its constantly white, but when the laptop is on it behaves normally.
    Any ideas?

    David.

    Idea:

    1. Install your old (cracked) screen.
    2. Power the laptop on, then go to sleep/standby.
    3. Install the new screen while in standby and turn on the laptop.

This isn't as dangerous as it sounds, LCDs don't use any important interfaces or high voltage electronics.
I've replaced a ton of LCDs while my laptop is on, no problem.

The thing is that there is an EDID and if you do the procedure above, you can use the EDID of your old screen on the new one, temporarily to diagnose if its the problem.

They MUST be the same resolution.
