    Hey guys

New here, but not new to forums.

I have a few questions, which i have searched for and can not find difinitive answers. Firstly i have one of these wonderful machines, that has served me well for over a year but im starting to think about upgrading

I have just purchased a new hitachi 500gb 7200 Rpm drive so thats out of the way, so now im looking at other options

1: Memory, iv read that some people have bought 8gb kits but then not reported back if it works on some other forums, is 8gb or 6gb the max? oh my system is the DDR3 version

2: i have found a 4650 on ebay, but im unsure what type i need, there are two, one MXM-II type A, and one MXM-II type B, which should i go for?

3: CPU, i dont have a fortune to sepnd on this, im looking at maximum spend about £80, so going from a P7450 to a.............? would be a good upgrade path

Many thanks in advance, i have been meaning to join the forum for a while as i have been reading on here for years and have always been mightily impressed by that help given out

    many thanks guys

There is an entire thread on this.

    However the kinds are:

    Gen2:

    MXM-I
    MXM-II
    MXM-III

    Gen 3:

    MXM 3.0 A
    MXM 3.0 B

    You need MXM type II.
