Hello everybody on this great forum :)

    first, my configuration:

    Acer 6935G
    intel t9400 (1,025v-0,95v) 2,53GHz (1066MHz) 6MB
    Geforce 9600m GT gddr3 (undervolt 0,89v) (core-610, memory-910, shaders-1600)
    4GB DDR3 (1066MHz)
    500GB (5400tpm)
    16" screen (1366*768)

    3d mark 06 : 7250
    Furmark: approximatively 1450frame per minute
ask for more bench (crysis, gta IV)

I could push higher the frequency of gpu with 1,05v but too much heat (73°c max) :(

I was wondering if the radeon mobility hd 4650 (ddr2) could be a good upgrade or if the performance will be nearly the same? (and with an oc 4650?)

Is the hd 4670 compatible (http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/396320-acer-mxm-models-cards.html-->no ; mxmupgrade.com-->yes? )? Is it better?

    Is this processor a good x9100? (--> eBay.be: Intel® Core?2 Duo X9100 3.06Ghz OEM SLB48 6MB > T9900 (objet 140494057435 Fin: 24-janv.-11 13:27:25 CET))

And last, all these things do not improve significantly performance and te best upgrade is a HDD Seagate momentus XT (hybride) or 2 GB in addition (-->6GB DDR3

Thanks a lot for time you take too read and answeer and sorry for my poor english ;)

There's no point in upgrading RAM- if you're not using up the entire RAM you have it's going to make no difference at all.
New HDD would be a good idea though- overall experience with the computer with 7200rpm HDD would be better.

As for you current GPU- 73*C is not a high temperature at all so if that's what is stopping you from OCing even more @1.05V- it shouldn't be a concern.

I would advise against 4650 DDR2- it's gonna cost you and it's a crippled card.
As for HD4670 it's not incompatible according to our MXM thread- it's not listed because it has not been attempted yet (at least I can't see any failed attempts)

As for the benchmark- I’m rather curious how Crysis performs on your system in high details 720p- if you wouldn't mind. Although it's just curiosity so I don't insist ;)

ok thx, for all reply and for the quick response :D
i'll try to overclock higher with 1,05v :) and forget ati..

And the hdd is less expensive :)

for the bench, on crysis warhead (gamer=high):
    !TimeDemo Run 0 Finished.
Play Time: 227.02s, Average FPS: 15.43
Min FPS: 9.50 at frame 1760, Max FPS: 19.88 at frame 757
    Average Tri/Sec: 1480160, Tri/Frame: 95952
    Recorded/Played Tris ratio: 5.44
    with (600, 900, 1600) :)

If 73 is not hot, where is the limit?

And can I put the voltage to 1,16v ( original: 1,05v but propose by nibitor)?

Sure HDD is less expensive than HD4670 DDR3 but that would be one hell of an upgrade performance-wise.

As for the temperatures- you don't want to be close to 90*C- as long as it's stable and temps up to mid 80s it's fine.

As for voltage- can't say for sure as I don't own 9600M GT but it's mainly the matter of temperatures and stability- if you can keep the whole thing cool enough it should be fine but I wouldn't do it- you're @0,89V and wont to go to 1,16V- it's gonna get warmer in the room.

Going SSD will help drop overall system temp, also make the whole thing feel alot more snappy.

    ok, thanks again..

    Last problem is I don't find a hd 4670 ddr3 to buy...

And I have only one slot for hdd so sdd isn't a good solution for me (500 GB ssd is very too much expensive)...

You have to find someone with an MSI ex625 or gx623 for the 4670 ddr3. Its the only way.

The HDD + SSD you can accomplish with an ODD caddy...

For the hd4570, I'm looking for it...

I want to keep my blu-ray player... So no ODD caddy ;)

Hamzie, what about your original processor?

And what about the performance of the new HDD?

great idea (except that for the moment, I have no usb 3.0 device :p )..

May be for a safe transfer rate, an e-sata to usb 3.0 could be a good idea...

I wonder what could be the speed with this express card...

    Acer 6930G expresscard=port1 and wifi=port2, so could do a x2(NVidia) or x2E(ATI) DIY ViDock. The latter would get you 3dmark06 > 12k with a HD6850.

    Clocked at either 600/600 1.0v or 675/600 1.1v.

The Seagate 7200.4 will be decently faster. I saw a good increase over my stock drive and then I switched over to the hybrid and saw even more of an increase. I would say something like 3 minutes > 2 minutes > 40 seconds. A sandforce or C300 SSD should manage something like 20 seconds.

No, Diy VidDock is not what I want... Because with an external gpu, it's not on the laptop's screen...

If you have x1.Opt, then it can use the internal LCD too but it loses some performance.

(applying mx-2) but where the gpu sits.. i dont know how to describe it it really isnt a dried thermal compound thing on the heatsink... more like a ...cloth? am i supposed to remove that too before applying mx2?

talking about that blue pad thing on the top http://static.zooomr.com/images/5867319_87e39fd0e0.jpg

Yeah, I ve got it for 125€ in Bruxelles...

Only 20 seconds to boot on seven 64bit... It's longer with Vista 32 bit but with a good improvement... Ubuntu is also realy faster.. This HDD is realy impressive.. :)
Now, my laptop is directly ready for gaming, internet, word,... after booting.

    Strangely it never spin-off...

now I save money for intel x9100 :) (and I study XD)

Will it be useful getting a usb 3.0 express card?
or will there wont be much of a speed diff. due to the motherboard
