My Acer Aspire 7551G started making strange noises today. It works fine, but the CPU fan and hard drive hum/rattle like crazy. The noise is a lot like a disk spinning in a CD drive really fast. The chassis vibrates quite a bit.

For a few minutes after booting everything is normal. But then it begins suddenly, and it won't stop until I shut down. I already opened the back panel and took a look at the HD but I couldn't notice anything wrong. The CPU fan is under the bigger plate, so I didn't want to poke around too much before asking. Warranty time is past already, the machine is about two years old. I dusted off every spot I could without opening the bigger panel.

    What should I do?

Update: The noise ceases for about 20 seconds every 5-6 minutes. Any ideas what to do about this?
