    Acer 7720-6536 CD-ROM Issues

    Hi All

    I explained what is in my Laptop in my other Thread here: forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=322887 (Props to ATG for getting that part working)

    But now I have a New Issue... I have XP 64 Installed and all drivers Installed but Now when ever I try to use a CD/DVD or what ever else I get the error saying:

    "This CD-ROM can not be used with the current operating system"

    im at a loss... Anyone got any Idea's?

    You may try to delete device driver from the device manager then restart and let windows reinstall it.
    If this doesn't work, you may try the following registry trick. Keep in mind I have no idea if this will help you, also, do not forget to backup your registry first. Ok here goes:

    heh the Reg. Tweaks killed the Mouse and keyboard, be back in a bit, reformatting.

    ok got it reformatted and I also fixed my issue, in my other thread ATG and myself got the SATA driver installed which enabled me to install XP using AHCI from the start but that did not install the Ultra ATA driver that the DVD Burner is on, so i didn't feel like dicking around on Intel's website anymore so Acer has their App. and Driver backup program, I ran that and it gave me ich8id2.inf and that is the Ultra ATA driver for the Intel ICH8M Ultra ATA Storage Controller, I updated it and it was able to read CD/DVD's with no issue.
