Does anyone know what I need to connect an Acer 7720g laptop to a TV, to be able view images from the laptop on the TV? The TV is a Sony 29 inch CRT, about 7 years old (will check if needed)
Any help appreicated, no matter how obvious!

You can try with S-video cable. There is a yellow connector to the left of the laptop between firewire and usb ports. It's a 7 pin mini DIN connector, but you can use normal 4 pin S-Video cable with it. I don't know what connection there is on the TV, you may have to use some adapters to connect S-video cable to the TV. Here where I am, TVs use SCART so I had to get a S-Video to SCART adapter.
