    Hi,

i got Acer 7740g with gpu problem. Thought is just a cooling problem. But after some research i found, that gpu is damaged. After turn on laptop are in bios some strange color points and lines, boot to windows ended with BS - atixxx.sys problem. When i disabled gpu in windows emergency regime i got to windows only with restricted options. After disassembly laptop i found, that Ati gpu- 5650 looks ok, but the nearest chip looks like overheated with black color. So i guess, the Ati chip is damaged because overheating the gpu and nearest chip. Shame, that Ati gpu are implemented in motherboard. Shame i thought, that has extra slot and its dedicated. :-(
My question is: is there any solution how repair , bga reball or ?
    1. swap motherboartd i know about it, this is latest solution and expensive

Next solution i wanted try running Igpu on cpu. But i can't run this. I know, that some Acers models had disabled options run on igpu.

    Thank you for advice.

This one doesn't have ale the circuitry to run integrated GPU. It was supposed to have switchable graphics and GDDR5 according to fist press releases but ended up with neither.

I doubt it can be easily repaired and integrated GPU is out of the question so it looks like mobo replacement is your only viable option.
That said I'd recommend you consult a local notebook service center on the possibility of repair - they will have a better idea than I do.
