This confused the heck out of me and took me a while to find what I "believe" is the definitive answer (I'm welcoming a correction here if I'm wrong).

    From Acers' website
    Power 90-watt AC adapter

    Lithium ion batteries:
    - Nine-cell - up to 3.5 hours life depending on configuration and usage
    - Optional secondary six-cell - up to 2.0 hours life depending on configuration and usage
    - Both batteries - 80% charge in 1.0 hour, 2.0 hours recharge time with power off, 2.5 hours with power on

I'd "heard" of 6 hour battery life. I'm inferring that the only way to get there is with the 9-cell and the MediaBay/Secondary 6-cell both installed.

Ofcourse that is the case, you'll never find any mainstream notebook with similar specs passing the 3.5-3.75 hrs mark. So, as you answered your self, you get the extended battery life with the two batteries inserted and I doubt that it'll reach 6 hrs even then.

The initial spec on the 8200 series does list 6 hours of batery but it did not say 6 hours on main battery alone. I think you may be right that's it's with both battery. The main will definately hit 3.5 hours+ as the sample I saw was able to run that long on battery and still have a bit left. I think with wifi and BT off and at a lower screen brightness, you can get close to 4 from the main.

interesting to note that @ Tomshardware they did a battery test on an Asus dual core..and it was terrible compared to a normal P-M
