My laptop of recent has started to pixelate lines appear first and then everything becomes jumbled, I cleaned the Fan and everything, replace the thermal paste and put the thermal blu tack on it put it all back together and it goes on. The Temp of the CPU is around 60c normally a wee bit lower, it also occasionally during being on will start too appear with lines of pixels then diagonal black pixels at that point i shutdown the laptop, but when i go to put it back on again, I have no screen just what looks like a backlight at the bottom of it, I then have to unscrew and go through the process again.
1. I have 2-3mm of thermal blu tack on the gpu as i've read in another post
2. I have used a paste that a friend whos a techie uses to put on cpu
3. Fan and Radiator thing is cleaned out
4. Can sometimes run for hours and then all of a sudden bang black diagonal pixels..
Please help me this thing is doing my head in....

Sounds like a bad GPU in general. Which brand and model is it?

acer 8204wlmi i get it sometimes, then sometimes nought, then the board heats up to really hot temps the cpu stays at 50c but i am sure the GPU doesnt, e beginning to think the GPU is just fooked caused its too hot compared to others of the same models ive experienced.
On that part i do have another mobo of that with no GPU issues but my issue with that is it charges the battery ever so slightly, and doesnt power on without battery or for that matter if the battery is dead, ive tried replacing the ac/dc point where u plug it in but still got the same problem -
?? any idea anyone

Highly doubt this is a thermal or hardware problem.
I had this problem a couple of years back with my 8204. It would especially happen when i woke it up from standby. Pixellated, jumbles, then lines then it may or may not have blacked out.
After a windows reinstall the problem went away. I speculated that it might have been due to the fact that i had two likely conflicting power mangement programs running at the same time. I had the original Acer ePower management and Notebook Hardware Control. Once i deleted ePower and used only NHC, never had the problem again. -
nah happened before installer acer power management and stuff the board where the GPU is is incredibly hot, the CPU runs normally at 50-60c so feck knows
