Hi,
I just ordered the Acer Aspire 8920-6030.
Here are the full specs:
http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=10140ST5724&vpn=LX.AP50X.347&manufacture=ACER
Basically, for those of you who prefer not to click, it is an Acer 8920-6030 Core 2 Duo T8100 GeForce 9500M GS 4GB 320GB 18.4IN WUXGA+ Vista Premium Notebook, with the BD-Reader, processor speed of 2.1GHz, DDR2 SDRAM.
Paid 1540$ CAN for it, taxes and shipping included. I just ordered it and I'm receiving it next week.
Any of you have one of these? If yes, what do you think of it? You really like it, or is it just all bright and shiny but cumbersome and slow? For the experts, is it a good notebook?
Personally, I won't be traveling a lot with it, if at all. It is mainly to watch videos (in blu-ray!), surf the net, work a bit with the Office suite and play some not very demanding games (seems I can't stop playing old games like Fallout II and Planescape!), anyways I'm more the *gasp* console gamer type.
So yeah, give me your feedback, if you'd be so kind, and if any of you have dumb-proof advices on how I could easily improve my laptop, either by installing/uninstalling stuff, or if any of the components are easily upgradeable, please by all means share it with me. All I know right now is that I'm going to burn a recovery/back-up dvd as soon as I get it, but that's about it.
Just so you know, I'm a complete newbie as far as notebooks are concerned. The only recent computers I work with are those at work, my old desktop at home is now 9 years old (without any upgrade since then! Hence the Fallout II and Planescape!), so it is about time that I get something new.
Thanks a lot in advance and cheers to you all.

Danger...Got my new aspire 8920 one month ago.
Comes with Acer Arcade Deluxe, a media player that can be started instantly without starting Windows!
I somehow hit the Arcade "instant start" button and my Vista restore points were wiped out!! see other forum info. -
why not the Acer 8930?

I got this laptop about 4 mos ago. love it. just have an issue with some blu-ray discs that will not play. The subwoffer barely makes a sound, I think it is mostly a gimmick, and a couple of times the cinedash did not work (simple fix tho, remove battery and wait then simply put it back) Last issues is Vista related where it crashes when I run MSN messenger for some reason. Other than that I love the laptop, but I woudl definetly not recommend it for travelling, it is a laptop in the heavy side.
Cheers
