    Hello everyone.

I've got an Acer 8920G and the problem I have is that when I enter Windows (or even in the log window) it suddenly reboots, and this happens most of the time. I've made the following tests to track the problem:

1- Run Windows in safe mode: works OK.
2- Memtest from Ubuntu CD: works OK.
3- Run Ubuntu from Live CD: doesn't work. It happens the same as Windows.

After all these test I came to the conclusion that there must be something wrong with the graphics card, as the first two don't stress the graphics card neither the hard this and the second one means that RAM is OK.

The computer was working ok until a few weeks ago and it is plugged in all the time.

    Do you have any ideas?

Thank you very much in advance.

Sudden reboots on Linux don't sound good... Linux doesn't auto-reboot on kernel panic, which means that the reboots are initiated by something in hardware.

    Thank you for your reply.

I think so as in Windows "Safe mode" it can be run for hours without a problem (I made a back-up of the hard disk with no problems) , but it seems that when more graphic power is needed (Windows in normal mode, Linux in desktop mode, etc) the system reboots suddenly.

I've forgotten to say that none of the components are hot when the system reboots.

    Regards.

How about high CPU loads? Is it only GPU load that triggers the problem?
