I have recently purchased an Acer 8920g laptop which I use as a replacement desktop. And its brilliant for my photo imaging and editing etc.The only slight problem I have is the conflicting messages I get from the battery icon in the bottom right of the screen.Sometime it says fully charged, other times it says battery cannot be detected, and other times will show a charge percentage rating of 60% and says battery not charging.

These messages vary each time I switch on. The Laptop works perfectly well apart from this.I wonder if anybody else has experienced a similar problem in which case could they please let me know how it was resolved. As I said the laptop works perfectly well so is this something I can safely ignore. Many thanks.Tony.W.

    sounds like a BAD BATTERY

call ACER and COMPLAIN... they will likely send you a replacement battery and may not even ask for your old one back,.,,

anyway,,, you should be able to totally remove the battery and run off AC only... but i would not ignore the issue.... a malfunctioning battery can cause all kinds of problems... one of which could be a FIRE

    To Bigozone.

Thank you for the advice I contacted Acer who (surprisingly)told me they do not give any support or warranty for their laptops which are purchased from PC World.Have contacted PC World and they have arranged for me to have the battery tested.Hopefully they will detect a fault and replace it.

As this is my first laptop I thought that perhaps this was a common occurrence so I am grateful for the advice you gave me.Many thanks Tony.W.
