Acer 8930 - How to change display settings?

Hi.

I recently upgraded my laptop from the 8920g to the 8930.
My only gripe with the 8930 is that there seems to be alot more backlight leakage in this model. Not so much around the edges (a thin line along the bottom but I guess that seems to be the case with most displays) but more streaks down the middle. Quite noticable if watching a movie on it at night.

What I am trying to do is change the brightness/contrast etc.. settings. I go in to the nvidia control panel settings and can adjust the bars up/down but nothing on the display changes. I can put everything on 0% but it still looks exactly the same. I click the apply button, even try a reboot but still no joy. Is there another way to do this or is my graphic card faulty? I've only had the laptop about a week.

Also, does anyone have any recommended display settings?

No idea what is causing this, probably the driver. I'd try other driver, from laptopvideo2go.com(optimized nvidia drivers for laptops). There is a driver package and a modded INF file.
Download both the driver and the modded INF from laptopvideo2go.com. Make sure they are both the same version! Check the "Have Disk" guide. Follow the guide. Maybe with the new driver, changing the contrast and brightness from Nvidia Control Panel will take effect..

I phoned acer support today and they didn't know about this problem. They came to the conclusion that you aren't able to do it.
How crap is that? You can't even change your display settings to how you like it.

 

I had the white blinking line on my acer 8920 at the top....it started to flicker after it warmed up. I took it back to the store and got another one...now it works fine......if you put 5 acer 8920's or 8930's together with the screens on, not all will look the same...some will have a higher contras to it. and others will look alittle sharper....and you cant change it...that sucks! still a good laptop

 

whats does the 8930 do that the 8920 does not do?????
