I've bought two new hard disks for my beauty and plan to re-install the OS and applications over the weekend, however the application to create the recovery does not work!

How many recovery DVD's should it create?
Can I access a recovery method on bootup?

Try pressing ALT+F10 on the bios boot screen , but i dont know if this can create recovery dvd`s , i think it is just for hdd recovery.

But if you have formatted your OS hdd , it might have wiped your recover MBR so ALT+F10 might not work, you could also try pressing F8 just as windows starts as if going to safe mode and see if you have a recover option.

Well if it enables to do a standard restore then that is fine. I'll just ghost that to restore back on to the new drive and retain the original drive.

Has anyone created the recovery media on one of these?

I got my 8930G yesterday and made the recovery DVD`s , you need 3 blank dvd`s by the way.

Once you do an hdd restore , you will keep getting reminded to make your backup dvd`s until you make them.

where are you, we have a postal strike in the UK at the moment, so it could be a problem.

I did my hdd recovery without any problems, after i had a problem with a software update for Blu-ray playback messes up.

If the hdd restore does not work, I can post the dvd`s tomorrow , but with the back-log it could take a few days to arrive.

Try the hdd restore first and see how it goes.

Ok no problem. I did originally create the restore DVD's and totally forgot about them. I've put a new hard disk in (thankfully I did a complete backup of my data!). I think the hard disk has gone bang to be honest, will post back in a bit and tell you how it goes.

After a few tense moments when I attempted to restore it to factory default by DVD it worked, it failed the first time. My Acer now has 2 x 500GB sitting pretty in it!
