Hi to all, i just recently bought an acer 8930g laptop, when i log into msn the synaptic tool crashes causing the scroll on the touchpad to stop functioning, however i have uninstalled the touchpad diver and got another from manufacturs website and installed it, it still doesnt seem to solve the issue, i have done a system restore, that didnt help either.

i think its msn that causes it to crash but not 100% sure tho as i have tried to test to see what causes it to crash, i did this by loggin into msn out of 10 times about 7 of the time it crashed, so am pretty sure its msn, maybe i might be wrong and please correct if i am.

below i will paste the error that i get, i got this by going on the event viewer.

    on the general tab:

Faulting application SynTPEnh.exe, version 10.2.4.1, time stamp 0x47f6c0c1, faulting module SynTPEnh.exe, version 10.2.4.1, time stamp 0x47f6c0c1, exception code 0xc0000409, fault offset 0x0002988c, process id 0x17bc, application start time 0x01ca1060bf9b1946.

    and on the details tab:

What I would have done in your position is to unistall both programs. Then update Windows and antivirus and then run Antivirus, Windows Defender, Microsoft Malicious Removal tool scans to see if you have any trojan, virus etc. Then install the latest Synaptics Drivers and then the latest Windows Live (it includes Windows Live Messenger).
    Check if that helps

Not a problem but I don't understand why the internet drops. Are you connected wirelessly? Can you connect by cable? Is it the wireless connection that drops or the internet connection? One thing to do is to download all of them when you have the connection (and if you can the updates as well; some of them you can update them manually) then install them one by one. First update windows then install the AV of course, do the AV update manually if you can, othewise try to do it through AV browser and then scan.

ah i am connected wireless, but the internet work fine i can download it and install it, once i finish the installation thats it no more internet for me, yester i did it and internet stopped workin, i was worried that i might hav got a virus i restarted the computer no luck, i did system restore that fixed the problem and gat rid of avg as i went back a day. and after the avg i tried the other one and after the installation finished the internet went again lol so i uninstalled it and internet was back on. all i kno is when i install one the internet goes the pages dont load i use firefox by the way, so i opened IE to check if it works and it didnt saying connection error of somat and when i diagnose problem it says everything is fine. when the internet stops working there is a connection as the wireless says connected.

and another thing i cant do updated as it says no connection on avgfree on the update manager

Ok, we have to find that you don't have a virus. You can still download the Microsoft malicious software I said above and that doesn't need update, it is already updated or the windows defender. Then, you can do a free online antivirus scan (you don't have to install the antivirus so it should be fine) Kaspersky McAffe Symantec
    See those if they work

Did you uninstall McAfee from your computer ?
I don't know if this is relevant to your later problems with anti-virus and firewall software but some folks have had problems.
It seems McAfee does not completely uninstall itself when using the built-in uninstall tool.
You may want to read through this article:

    Good luck :)

All the best, woz of oz
