    Hi everyone!

I have bought my Acer 8930 and I'm happy.... Or... I'm actually a little sad, because I thought it could run CoD5!!

I can run Call Of Duty 5 smooth in 5 minutes, but then it begins to slow down for some reason. I have tried different graphic-settings and Resouloution with no luck. I have heard in some other threads that Vista 64-bit would help?

    I run with these specs:

Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit)
    Intel Core Duo Processor P8600
    18.4 Full HD screen
    NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GT TURBOCACHE
    4GB DDR3
    640GB HDD
    Blue-ray
    And much more . . .

In the Acer Power-Management I have set it to High Performance, and Maximum CPU and Graphics Settings. I have also set the NVIDIA graphics driver to Performance.

I have also tried to set it on balanced.

It lags most of the games that I play. (Left 4 Dead, CoD5, GRID etc.)

Do you guys have any suggesions?

I really hope you can help me! :D

    Kind Regards Peter

PS. I use the Power Supply

Are you monitoring your temperatures at all? I'd check them.

    Yup.

    My CPU is 40-45 C

    My HDD's are normal

.. But I can't check my graphic card, and I don't know why. I have tried to use EVEREST and SPEEDFAN but they can only see CPU and HDD.

Hi, what are the power settings, you might have it set to 'balanced', which is correct if you use the battery. However these could be tweaked so that the laptop is giving full performance under mains power.

I use the power supply, NOT the battery. All is setted to high performance ;)

    Will Vista 64-bit help?

Hi, 64bit - 32bit, doesn't make any difference unless it is some program running in the background that either yourself or acer has installed. Are you sure that vista isn't performing a defrag or a indexing in the background. Have you checked for trojans or a virus. Perhaps I should try my COD4 to see if mine slows down as well...

powerfull499 I had the same problem with my 6935g in GTA 4. what i did was; in the Nvidia control panel switch to performance instead of quality. this worked for me

    Thanks for the answers.

    What drivers do you use?

I have changed my NVIDIA settings to "Performance", but it seems to not have helped :/

EDIT: I'll try to turn the indexing off! Thanks for the advice. I'll come back and tell if it has helped.

Carab, according to the forum rules you have to provide an English translation when you post in a different language. I'll let the above go but from now on please proved an English translation. Thank you.

Hi Caleb. I think the new drivers did some improvements but CoD5 still lags after 10min . . .

Can some of you guys test your Acer 8930 in CoD5? And if it doesent lags, please tell me your settings in the game, and the graphic card settings.

    Kind Regards Peter

Does this happen in other games for you also? If so it may be something overheating, most likely your video card. I have Aspire 8930 and have similar problem with graphics fps become unstable a little while in, or they go up and down abnormally. I found out it was because of heat. I elevate my laptop a little and no more problems. Another thing that worked also is to use powermizer and turn it off for ac power. It seems the nvidia driver was underclocking when it reached a certain temperature, which was not even that hot like 70c.
