    Hi

I have installed windows 7 64 bit and I have one problem. Acer arcade deluxe is telling me that my audio decoder is 2 channel and will not let me select 5.1. As a result, blu ray and movies play in 2 channel and they are the left 2 channels too, not very nice to listen to!

The weird thing is, in windows I get sound from all speakers!

Anyone know what I do? Or shall I just go back to vista until October?

Can someone with vista have a look at the arcade, go to settings and then about, it says the decoder there, does yours say 2 channel or 5.1? I am sure I was given the option to select 5.1 when I had vista but I have only had the laptop for a week or so.

    Cheers

    Hi

    Sure have.
I reset it back to vista this morning and on the arcade it says 6 channel audio decoder.

So something is wrong somewhere on this, I want to use windows 7 but dont if I cant play blu ray in all the speakers. It is weird because if I watch a video on youtube then all the speakers work (but obviously the sound isnt surround sound as most people do not make videos with a camera that can do that).

    Anyone else have any ideas?

I was thinking maybe I could copy the drivers from windows vista and use it on windows 7. But my vista is 32 but and windows 7 is 64 bit ultimate.

    Stuck :(

Just tried copying all the dll files and putting them into windows 7 but they were 32 bit versions and didnt work.

Surely there must be someone out there that has an 8930g running windows 7 64 bit (or 32 bit) and either has the arcade thing running fine or the same problem as me?

Another thing I could look at to get around this is maybe to see if there is another software I can download to watch blu ray films?

    Hi
Those drivers have set my whole system to a 2 speaker config, so basically worse than before.

Ill wait for a few hours to see if anyone else has this issue and then decide, but looking like Ill need to install vista 64 again :(

Everything is great apart from this one thing too!!

Another question too, why does it not let me change files in windows and windows\system32? I am an admin, but some of the permissions are not full and they are all greyed out, it is my system I should be able to do what I want, anyone know how to change this?

I have copied all the .dll and .sys files from vista and hoping that I can copy them into the system32 folder of windows 7 but at the moment it says access denied.

I have this same problem with arcade deluxe in that there is only the 2 speaker option. I had the 6 channel option in vista 32 when I first had the laptop but have been unable to get it back since. I have restored it from erecovery and the option was missing tried it in vista x64 and windows 7 x64 and x86. I cannot get the 6 channel option back in any os. How did you get it back? Did you restore from a back up or recovery disc?
