    Hi

I currently have an acer 8930G quad core with 9600m graphics. I wanted the one with the 9700m graphics so I bought an 8930G on ebay with the 9700M GT which is meant to be a lot better.

I wanted to put my quad core in it but it seems to be not having it!

The other one is a core 2 duo T9400 2.54GHZ. The Mainboards are both PM45!

Anyone know what the issue is? THe motherboards are exactly the same, they have the same bios too!

Only other thing I can think of is swapping the motherboards but I really do not know how to go about taking it out etc. I can build a desktop PC no problem but laptops seem a bit harder!

    Cheers

    Nick

Search for service manual for 8930G (usually in PDF) and there is a guide how to disassemble your laptop.

Surely it would be easier to swap the GPUs? But it seems a lot of trouble for a minor performance boost.

    Hi

I just swapped the graphics cards in the end. I wanted a newer screen and case as mine is a bit messy but still works the same so I agree a lot of hassle just for that.

Some people said the 9700M GT is a lot better than the 9600m gt because the graphics is ddr3 and the card is faster too, but is it not much faster?

    Cheers

I have a 9600m GT in my 8930g with 512mb ddr3 it overclocks to 9700m speeds with ease. Do you have 9600m GT 1gb ddr2? The performance difference is there is there but isn't that significant. I think in 3dmark 06 its about 1500 points.
