This appears to be a common problem but can't find a solution:

Erecovery not working so purchased CDs from Acer.

Cds start initiated but then comes up with options to factory restore or restore from backup - but both are greyed out. There is only a selectable exit option which just aborts.

This laptop has been back to Acer who advise that nothing is wrong with CDs and that hard drive needs replacing. We have replaced hard drive with a new one and tried the CDs again and are presented with the exact same problem.

Does anyone have any idea what to do here, as this ia drving us mad
