First of all please excuse me for double posting this question.
Hello,
I am new here, aswell as new to flashing vbiosses etc.
I've got a Acer 9920 with a broken video card. I've got my hands on a 9600M GS 512MB DDR3. Is there any possibility in getting this to work together?
So far the card works fine on external monitor but giving the MXM infrastructure error.
Also can anyone please give me any idea about what to do to get this done? I am familiar with flashing biosses aswel as working with dos and dos boot disks.
The update bios file for the 9920 mentioned in the start post is unfortunately not available anymore. Is it possible to upload is again please?
Somehow I am just unable to find the right files there just is so mutch information on this forum![]()

So far I managed to flash an unlocked system bios so now the MXM stucture error is gone.
Now I am still looking for the right video bios to flash. Is there no-one able to help me on this one? -
hm........ no one wanting to help on this one????

Wouldn't be easier to ask someone for help in actual thread about 9920g upgrade or send private message to someone who upgrade 9920g to 9600m. I think in the first post is mentioned that .NetRolller 3D confirmed 9600m working with this laptop. Maybe he still have it or at least vbios for that card.
-
Thought about that too, but unfortunately I'm unable to send Netroller a PM. Maybe there's a possibility to turn this function of or am I just blind.
-
You need 6 quality posts to get PM privileges.

That's why... I understand that though. The only problem still is I'm unable to contact anyone and it seems no one with the right knowledge of this matter is reading my topic :-(
-
Anyway, I tried to flash a vbios which maybe could work, which it did not. Doing so I managed to have no video anymore, also not on external display.
Does anyone know how to blind flash using NVflash, I know the commands, but flashing a bios which isn't compatible causes NVflash to ask you to type Yes and Y, but I don't remember in which order.
Is there a command to get NVflash to work without any user input? -
:-( no responce from netroller either.
No one any clue what to do next? -
I've recently run into the same problem.
You need a USB-Stick formatted for DOS-Boot (use HPUSBFW.exe).
Then you need the correct vBios ... I dont know if its working with your GS ... I have successfully flashed a GT-Card.
Search the web for "mod_pack_for_9920G.zip" (from a french guy) and extract the package to the DOS-Formatted USB-Stick (I used a 4GB mini/noname Stick).
Then add the following line at the end of the autoexec.bat:
Code:c:\nvflash -4 -5 -6 9600.rom
Put in the Stick on one of the right USB-Slots (dont know if the left one will boot from Stick) and turn power on.
Now wait about 1 Minute then Press the following keys (DONT hit enter, because it will abort the procedure!!!):
y
... wait for about 10 secs ...
y
... wait for about 10 secs ...
y
... now wait for about 5 minutes to make shure you dont interrupt the flash procedure then power off and remove the stick.
If everything went fine, your system should now startup with the display.
Heres the log from my flash (notice the 3x "y"-questions for PCI, PCI-Subsystem and final Flash-Confirmation):

You MUST do something with the thermal-system in your Laptop, either Software or Hardware or you will fry your card in a near future.
This is, because the 9920G is controlling the Fan only by the CPU Temp.
The Hardware-Solution is to connect the copper-pipes from both heatsink using a copper-plate by soldering or glueing (2k liquid-metal) them together.
The Software-Solution is tricky and dangerous, because the needed tool (AcerFanControl) will start after the login process.
If you will go with the Software-Solution, ask me for the INI-File.
