    Hi,

I intend to upgrade the HDD in my wife's Acer AO722 netbook to SSD. I was wondering what kind of sata it is. 2 or 3 or whatever?

Also, I believe the memory is 1066. Can it use 1333 ram? Want to upgrade from 2gb to 4gb.

    Thanks!

In general you can use a sata 3 drive on sata2 without any negative drawbacks, same goes for using 1333mhz RAM on a 1066mhz bus.

I would be cautious about RAM- Aspire One 522 which is essentially the same as 722 in terms of hardware- just with smaller screen had trouble working with 1333MHz RAM when notebookcheck tested it.

Why is this so? I'll try to find the article.

Basically, I have a samsung laptop running 4gb 1333. I'm going to upgrade mine to 1 x 8gb and put the 4gb into her acer.

Edit: I found the article. They put in an OCZ ram. I'm not sure if it's the Brand or 1333. In any case, I will try putting mine in, which is a samsung.

Thanks for this. I used the software above to check and the hard drive is sata 2. So I will install a sata 3 ssd.

So, how was the result? Does it works with 1333?

Oops. Sorry I missed your post. Yes it totally works and the netbook is noticeably snappier. I just bought a samsung 128gb ssd today from newegg for $90. So I'm gonna upgrade that next. But I read that the amd c60 doesn't maximize the ssd's potential. So we'll see.
