I am considering buying this system because of its sheer setup, this being SU9400/4Gb/11.6/4500HD/BT/HDMI...olympic version... along with light weight and great battery life for whats in the system

    Few questions if I may....

    1. Does it use a regular 2.5 drive and is it easily accessible?

    2. I would like to upgrade to Win 64 and wonder if a bios update necessary and, if so, available?

    3. Are 64 bit drivers easily obtainable?

    4. As I am fm Canada, it will have this terrible bilingual keyboard...Can it be replaced and is it a simple process?

    5. Recovery Media... Does it come with a windows 7 reinstall disk? If so, does the disk contain both versions of Win (32bit/64bit) and can either be installed with the same key?

    6. If not, are there free versions of 64 bit available on the internet, as was the case with Vista, where one could legally download and use their key for 32 bit successfully?

    Thanks ahead...

Every 1810 in the US comes with 64-bit OS, and drivers are on Acer's website. No bios update need for a 32 to 64 bit switch. And yes it uses a 2.5" hdd.

Hard drive is easily upgraded or replaced, access from the bottom:

My 3810 did not come with a recovery disk, but it had a program preloaded where you could burn your own. And it will be in 32-bit since your Canadian 1810 comes with 32-bit OS.

Crap..... Thats garbage that they sell it 32 bit in Canada yet 64 bit us...

Looks like the most powerful 11.6 money can buy and I keep hitting obstacles but...

if the bios does require upgrading on a Canadian model...guess I can use us bios.

Im going to dig a bitand see how cheap I can grab one in the us...friends there that would use their address for shipping...just hate to do that.

Well....things can be so screwed up... I can get this system here, with the SU9400, for $715. In the US, with the same specs and Win7 64bit (as they all come with that) the cheapest I can get it is $952...

    Geez...

CAN SOMEONE COME OUT WITH An 11.6 FORMWITH A SU9400 OTHER THAN ACER THAT IS AFFORDABLE?

Are you sure it's 32 bit? Because it would be highly strange as the laptop has over 3GB of RAM.

Regardless of the version of W7 installed you would like to do the clean install to get rid of the bloatware. As long as you have 64 bit media, serial would work

    Yes.... heres where we stand....

I bought the Acer Timeline 11.6/SU9400/4Gb/4500HD/HDMI/BT.

I will be pulling the hd immediately and throwing in my Samsung 64Gb ssd.

    I will be installing 64Bit Win7 Ultimate

Drivers....hmmm.... Is Acer as easy to dig up drivers as Dell???

If you want to save $120, go get the SU7300 version.
