I preordered this from NewEgg. I'm very excited. Anyone else preorder? I played with the previous version at a local FRYs and I was pretty impressed so the upgrades in this system should make for a nice laptop. I hope the 10/22 release date is accurate.

I plan to purchase this although I wish Amazon carried it since they give accurate shipping estimates. I'd really like to have this laptop by Friday due to my traveling schedule. I've not found a major retailer that will be carrying this in the store.

yeah, i searched and searched but amazon does not have it listed. I'm hopeful that it will be a great laptop since I played with the other version. I'll get a squaretrade extended warranty should I have any problems after year 1.

It was up on Amazon a few days ago, I have it on my Wishlist but it is listed as "Currently unavailable", so no price attached to it.

I am considering to order this laptop and came across your post while researching. :)

I believe this one is almost exactly same as previous timeline AS3810T models, and many are complaining about single touchpad button. (Which rocks left to right). :(
I don't know if I will like that or not. (even though I rarely use the button)

Does anyone know if it comes with bluetooth or at least it is possible to add a bluetooth module ? (not external USB ones)

It seems times line AS1810TZ does come with bluetooth module. I don't see why higher model doesn't come with it.

Bluetooth is listed in the specs on acer's site but it says 'select configurations' only or something like that. My guess is no.

I spoke to newegg customer service today and they said they do have the units in stock (lie or not I don't know) but they said they had them and that is why they enabled the pre-order. So, they told me I would get an email with a sales order and shipment confirmation tomorrow.

    we'll see............stay tuned!

The Acer site does give specifics. If you view Configurations, it lists out the specs by retail model. The 8737 does not have internal Bluetooth. I have to say, the HP DM3 custom builds look like the way to go if you use the $200 coupon... For about $100 more, you get a hard drive with impact protection, Nvidia 105M graphics w/ 512MB dedicated, Bluetooth, 2 batteries, and an external DVD burner...

Well, #1, i'm not a big HP fan, #2, i don't care about bluetooth or impact HD. The graphics update might be cool but I really don't do a lot with graphics. I use my PS3 for games. I also already have a external dvd and i'm not looking to carry around a second battery. So, i'll probably still stay with the acer. But, i will check out the DM3. Where did you find the coupon?

I posted this in another topic about the -6415 being discontinued. Here's the -8737 at Costco. They extend the warranty for an additional year, and no hassle return with no restocking fee. And shipping is included. Depending on where you live, that's pretty fast.

Coupon is listed in the HP Coupons section of this site. There is a thread dedicated to this series of HPs, you should give it a look: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=415272
IMHO the body of the DM3 is more solid than any other thin and light I have played with (except maybe the Mac Book Pro). It's an aluminum chassis, not just the aluminum backing on the display that most thin and lights are using these days. Adds a little weight, but for those of us who truly take our notebooks on the road, it is worth it.

Is top cover (lcd cover) also aluminum?
It looks like brushed aluminum on the picture.

I hope someone can open up this laptop and find out if it is possible to add bluetooth module.

I cannot decied what to buy between AS3810T-8737 and AS1810T-8838. Mainly because of bluetooth. :(

So far i'm loving this laptop. Its really fast and runs everything well. It auto prompted me to make a series of system restore DVD's which I just finished with my LiteOn external dvd drive that I bought at fry's. It only required 1 USB port to work which was good.

Does anyone have a reccomendation for a sleeve for the laptop that may have had the previous version of the laptop?
