    Hi guys!
I've been looking for a laptop for several days and I m particularily interested in Acer 5102WLMi with Dual Core Turion 64. However, I found that its graphics card is weak(Ati xpress integrated). So I saw another model, namely AS 5112 WLMi. The problem is that there is not even a single review of this laptop. Most of all, it comes with ATI X1600 card. Here is the laptop: http://www.easyshop-bg.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_43&products_id=688

I suspect that this is some kind of a mistake or cheating since there is nothing on Acer website about 5112. And since I am from eastern europe where things like that are quite natural, I want to know, is there such a laptop model really ? What do you think ?

I don't think it is a mistake. But think about the price. If it is to your liking, than I would go with this laptop. It has twice as much stuff as the 5102. I have no bluetooth, and you have Voip!!? I think this model is the 5110 series notebooks, which are beefed up versions of the 5100 series. The 5110 series does exist.

Are there any more users with experience with the AS5112 ? From the specs it seems great (with the possible exception of the screen resolution) but I would really like to hear some hands on experience - build quality, heat, noise, problems, surprises....

I think 5112 would be 99% similar to 5102 as far as build quality, heat, noise etc are concerned.

    Greetings,

I just stumbled upon this forum when searching for a problem with my laptop. I have an Acer Aspire 5112 WLMi. It's a beast. The only problem is that I experience random lockups. This only happens when I am using the touchpad, and running off the battery only.

It isn't that big of a problem, since there are places all over campus to use an outlet, but it is kind of annoying. If anybody knows of any driver updates for it let me know, I can't seem to find it on the acer website.

I purchased mine off of tigerdirect.com for $1050, which was amazing for the uber-ness this thing has; however, I checked back four or five days later and it didn't even exist anymore.

I've been using a 5112WLMi since August of 2006. So far I have never had any problems. I've used it to dual boot with 64-bit versions of Linux and all worked fine.
