Hi people, I'm new to the site & have just ordered an Acer 6935g... just a few days to wait, roll on Monday :)

Anyway, I'm looking at getting an extended warranty for the UK, & think that this is the right one for me:

    http://http://www.kikatek.com/product_info.php?products_id=90031

The price seems good, the only problem is the info about the warranty on this site is non-existent, & the the information other sites about this bundle varies quite a lot. Is there more than one of these Platinum bundles available?

    Areas I'm not sure about:

    1. Does the platinum bundle always include accidental damage cover?
    2. Some of the sites say 'carry in' & others say 'collect & return' with regard to returns... does 'carry in' mean I'd have to pay for shipping if there's a problem with it?

Has anyone bought this Platinum warranty, or similar? Any light you can shed on this would be much appreciated. Cheers, Robin

While I cannot directly help or provide information about this specific package, I can perhaps suggest that you buy the warranty directly from Acer, such as from:

    http://store.acer.com/dept.asp?dept_id=02-005

I'm new to Acer myself, and expecting to receive my 1810t tomorrow, but having suffered through other manufacturer's warranty woes, I'd play it safe and buy directly from the manufacturer. This is particularly because there is no mention on what product this warranty covers, as you note.

    Hello,

I have an Acer (6930G) as well, and almost at the end of my first year...

Acer offers me an additionnal 2yr total protection bundle (including accidental damage) for 199$ cdn... I read the fine print, and i found the following line:

"There will be a deductible after the first service repair per year under this program."

Now, the thing is, I busted my earphone jack a while ago, and I never bothered sending it to Acer for repair (since I knew they would never believe it just fell apart by itself!!! it is too obvious that some moron walked away from his laptop with his headphones still on his head... )

The deadline is approaching (i bought my laptop november 5th, 2008) and i am not sure if i should buy this extended warranty or not...

Anyone here who had experience with this kind of warranty service? How much do you think the deductible would be for such a repair?
