    hi[ :)]

i have the Acer 1683wlmi, it has the anti-glare screen (ak.a. x-bright, clearview) that makes the screen very bright. Funny thing is the the screen gets brighter towards the bottom of the screen. I haven't seen this on any of the sony laptops or the new laptops incoparating these types of screen, Is this normal[?]

and does any one know of any setting that can be tweeked[?]

Are you sure 1683 has anti-glare ? I havnt seen it mentioned anywhere except in pdf ..but there it was mentioned like crystal view or some thing ..i dont recall it well

As for your question i havnt not yet noticed your problem ....is there any thing we could to purposefully simulate the problem you mentioned

Are you sure it's "Anti-Glare"? "Enhanced" screens like XBrite, Brightview, TruBrite, etc... all have a glossy surface. I have not seen any "Enhanced" LCD's that did not have any glare. This could possibly be Acer's attempt to reproduce the brightness of these "Enhanced" LCD's without going to a glossy screen. If this is the case, this could be why the screens brighter at the bottom (backlight located at the bottom).

    thanks guys for response.

the "anti-glare" description was taken from Acers' UK website. it shows my laptop as being the only one with this coating.
