howdy folks.. I'm a n00b here but not new to forums.

I have an Acer Aspire 6920 and I absolutely loath the Acer Arcade Deluxe.

anyone know how to completely remove it or disable it?

    thanks
    Beez

Hey Beezwax (nice name), welcome to NBR!
Acer Arcade Deluxe is actually installed in two parts on your system - one is as a program in Windows Vista, while the other is the Arcade "InstantOn" function that runs on a separate partition using Windows XP Embedded.
The Vista program's an easy uninstall, but Arcade InstantOn's a little trickier. I got rid of mine by simply doing a clean install of the operating system, making sure to nuke the partition in the process (it's the ~4GB one at the end of your drive). You might be able to get rid of it by using EasyBCD and removing the boot entry. Maybe.

thanks but I have no friggin lue what you just said other than the uninstall part for Vista. are you saying that the only way to get rid of the XP part is a re-install on the whole OS? that sucks!!!

I have a copy of Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 for re-install... how can I get ahold of all the needed drivers for the reinstall?

    Thanks
    Ben

I'm not sure if you need a complete re-install. You could see if EasyBCD has the Windows XP listed and if so, remove the entry (and then the partiton using Disk Management).

As for getting all the needed drivers, use the Acer eRecovery program to burn your Drivers & Utilities disc - it'll have everything you could ever need.

Well, since you've completely un-Acered the thing, I guess it doesn't make any sense to burn the Acer recovery discs. :3
If I were you, I'd burn the System Recovery Disc that Vista SP1 lets you do, then get a good backup situation in place - I personally have a 1TB external drive that I make a Complete PC Backup to each Sunday.

Just wandering about this Acer Arcade Deluxe Instant On partition. My 6920 randomly boots into Arcade deluxe in xp sometimes. After I restart, it boots into vista. Why? When I called Acer Tech support they acted like I was crazy. Is there some sort of button combination that signals the system to boot into arcade? I couldn't find anything in the manual, and like I said, tech support was clueless.

Pressing the little "Arcade Man" on the CineDash is supposed to send your system to InstantOn when it's off, but having the HOLD button on when shutting down in Vista and powering up again will sometimes send it to InstantOn.
    Try leaving the HOLD off.
