    Hi,
    I have the proclaimed Acer Aspire 5672 (1,66 Duo Core, 2GB Ram, 100GB HDD, X1400 256, WLMi)

I think the Laptop is a very cool thing. Performance is good, and everything runs smoothly... except those programs for which I bought the maschine.

To be more precise. I have troubles running the Adobe Production Suite (Premiere Pro 2.0, Audition, Encore, etc.)

I have done some research and I've been searching the MS database for results (but as expecte they are as cryptic as the error itself).
Whenever I start a program, lets say Premiere I get a bluescreen with a physical memory dump. Now in the beginning I thought it was memory. But it isn't... all mem diags have come up empty. Photoshop works fine... In the beginning I didn't understand it.

So I had windows not reboot after bluescreen to check the Error and I get a Stop Error with some codes (will paste them, when I get home) and an error message saying that the KS.SYS was making troubles.
I found out that it was the driver base for ACStream, basically everything for AudioVideo Streaming. And 3rd Party programs use that driver base, so that they don't need to recode everything. It suggests that there is a problem with one of the components or the drivers.
I have updated all the recent drivers and bios and tried it both with old/new drivers in the factory XP Home SP2 and on XP Pro SP2 and all sorts of combinations. But I ALWAYS get the same error...

Any hints, or should I try my luck with acer support... plse note I am currently in South Africa and I am not sure how the support is here... (got international travelery warranty).

I've also had problems with Adobe Premiere 2.0 / Adobe Premiere Elements from not working properly.

I did not have time to go into diagnostics or trouble shoot my problem (I just ended up running virtualdub mod + filters intstead). If you find an answer please let me know ;) I assume it's a core duo issue with the processors beign detected and not working properly. Either a windows update or a patch by Adobe should fix this.

But please let me know what you find.

I doubt it has anything to do with the Core Duo. Other maschines run fine with the Dual Cores. It must be some other Hardware conflict, that causes the drivers to malfunction.

There are no known patches or issues over at adobe... It might be a design error in the 5672 series...

I'll keep you posted about my findings.

Thanks for the tip, but I think I did download from Acer. My current clean install is with a set of Realteks drivers... I'll give it a try again. Hopefully it is just that... it would make my day....

...now I gotta get those hidden images (WinXP Pro...)

    Hurra,

it worked. It was as you mentioned the drivers. Downloaded the latest from Realtek.com.tw and installed after uninstalling the acer ones.

Thanks alot for the hint! You made my day.

The more I read about this laptop the more I like it... so the next steps might be... extracting the images from D2D and upgrading from T2300 to T7200...

    Cheers

You were lucky,I'll also had problems with blue screens and physical memory dump and it turns out that mother board and memory were broken.I received a phone call from service today they finally found out what is causing problems, AFTER 16 DAYS :-(
And I bought it just 2 months ago,it worked well for first 5 days and then started making problems with modem,soundcard,bluescreens...
