Almost - now that I've acquired the exact same SSD that you have. It will be exactly the same after I perform the k/b switch. I checked the ram by opening up the back cover - and you're right, it's 800Mhz. Nice little bonus.
-
I know....best system I have had yet. Sold my Dell XPS M1340 for it and am very satisfied with the switch.
-
I actially found some as low as $18 with free shipping...and those actually fit inside of the computer? Surprised there's room! A bluetooth dongle to fit a USB port can be had for $2...but maybe the bigger question, is what would I use BT for? wireless headphones? I dont see any real advantage to BT mice and keyboard (as opposed to RF)...only time I wold use those would be at home, where I could plug in virtually unlimited USB stuff...so I guess my orginal question was as much curiosity as need...and still perturbed as to why none of these notebooks are listed on the ACER website, which in theory should provide accurate info rather than the forum speculation...
-
If you look at the Acer site, there is a "Configurations" tab for each product that list all of the different configurations and their individual specifications.
-
Eh??? see 3542 above...thought I posted the configs and specs section of Acer.
-
This looks interesting.
When I first got my 1810T (a couple of months ago), I searched ebay for a higher-capacity battery for it similar to the 12cell one I acquired on ebay for my previous netbook, the AcerAspireOne10.1(?)".
It was a great purchase. Not only did I have much longer-lasting battery (up to 12 hours, and still greater than 8 hours after almost a year) it acts as a great notebook handle allowing me to carry it it one hand without closing the lid.
Now it looks like I can have the same benefits for my new timeline.
Thanks for sharing. -
$22 one is the BT 2.1 version which is the most current. It's the size of your pinky finger and yes there's even an empty miniPCI-E slot in our laptop so there's plenty of room in there (unlike my Vaio P which has zero room!)
I have the $2 dongle as well but it takes up an USB port plus you want to remove it when you travel so it won't snap off by accident.
You can use BT to send/receive stuff from your cellphones/blackberries. I use it to tether to my BB for web surfing. -
What else could one do with this slot?
-
I was just wondering about that after I took apart mine.
I wonder if this will work...

I think that's incorrect, the first olympic edition I ever seen was in white. I don't believe ncix would list the colour wrong on so many models? I buy 90% of my orders from them.
You can plug a bluetooth dongle onto printers with the usb pictBridge or that have built in bluetooth for wireless printing and card reading if there's a card reader built into your printer. I have an HP PhotoSmart D5069 that has a usb host/PictBridge slot (like the usb slot on a PC) the printer's driver can configure bluetooth settings natively.
Cell phones like my Motorla Hint QA30 has settings and an adaptor to make it a usb host to plug onto a usb flash drive and read/transfer data with the flash drive. The cell phone can also be set for dialup networking via bluetooth to allow your laptop to reach the internet through cell phone signals. Wonder if it's smart enough to let the laptop use the 1X & mobile browser to send internet data.
Saving usb ports is important because if you ever want to recharge a device like a cell phone and a bluetooth headset and transfer data to external storage at the same time and require any other devices plugged in like a laptop cooling pad/fan etc; you will need as many free usb ports as possible.
+1
You guys I just gave my input on this just above. -
Take a look at my links. The ONLY released Olympic Editions were the same silver as you see now with the Olympic Logo.. Only the specs changed from country to country.
In Canada for instance we got the SU9400 which never got released in the 1810T in the US and we finally got the Win7 64 Bit which was never here prior even though there were alot of retailers accidentally advertising that there systems were the 64 bit incorrectly. We also got bluetooth standard which the US never got originally.
I also have never seen a whit 1810T....only older models in blue and black. -
The only olympic editions ever released are ONLY SILVER.They have a plastic lid with a very nice silver finish and the olympic logo on them.In the right bottom of the palmest they also have the olympic logo.In the ncix add the silver ones are Olympic and the rest the regular line.
-
All previous and current configurations as listed on the Acer site. As Les pointed out, the offerings may have been or be different in different countries.
BTW the first US 1810s did in fact come with Bluetooth.
And here is the current Black SU4100. Notice the lack of BT and that is has 4GB of RAM vs the 3GB the 4013 had.
-
what about one of those broadcom video decoder chips?
http://www.logicsupply.com/products/bcm970012
Even with 4Gb RAM and 10 flash it can't seem to play hulu and other video
-
The 1410-1810's play easily ''hulu and other video''.Try to troubleshoot first(media players, codecs, drivers e.t.c)before you resort to such extreme solutions.
-
In my experience at least the su2300 struggles with 1080P youtube and 480P Hulu fullscreen. You'll need a good install of flash beta/rc to get them to be watchable.
-
ya, but flash 10.1 is near final release, so Hulu 480p pain won't last much longer. Also on a side note, i am hoping that when they release Flash 10.1 for computers they will also release the Flash 10.1 open beta for Android 2.1 devices (i am currently using a Moto Droid 2.1)
-
SU2300 is a celeron in my opinion the lowest end/performing cpu. I've never known a celeron to perform high quality entertainment adequately anyway. Another thing to note is YouTube vids come in multiple formats. You can play with adding extra tags on the url like &fmt=18 or &fmt=22 or &fmt=17 etc. There's also different quality levels if you right click the video. Low quality is always fastest with minor reduction in sharpness. Medium and High also pllay at the same performance for me.
It wasn't until 2 days ago that I installed Flash 10.1 which is currently at "Release Candidate" level (yay!). I've been playing megavideo just fine with official releases and 720p was viewable on some content. The odd thing was occasionally when there was a hiccup in my old drivers/software the 720p youtube would run smooth on power saver settings. With 10.1 I don't find it any better with SD, still dropped frames on youtube. Havn't watched anything on megavideo yet. 720p youtube is very viewable even in fullscreen. So far 10.1 has a greater improvement on 720p youtube than any SD youtube vid.
I'm hoping the latest ffdshow will be faster than MPC HC because I don't like having lots of different players, I like to have 5 max and 1 I always use like WMP11. -
I believe Acer only list the model numbers and configuration for the area you selected on their home page (very top level). if you really want to see releases in other areas of the world, I think you have to first select the area from the home page and drill down. Canadians had some well featured 1810s available at one time or another.
-
Well I wouldn't discredit the su2300 just because it's named a Celeron. It's just a slightly gimped C2D CULV. CPU-Z even reports it has a penryn core.
As for the youtube video formats and qualities...everything I tried was 1080P setting at high quality. Not really a huge loss, I get perfect frames in 720P and I barely ever even use that quality. It's not like I'm watching TV shows on youtube, it's just 2-5 minutes clip, don't really need it to be HD.
For offline video, even poorly encoded 720P video plays at 40%. Anything with dxva gets in the 10% range.
Also in general, while 1080P playback is a nice benchmark...I don't really have the patience to be downloading huge 1080P video files to my hard drive, or waiting 5 minutes for a 10 minute youtube video to buffer. Maybe if I had a htpc setup that streamed to my network (I'm sure lots of people do).
EDIT: 1080P video off hard drive does work perfectly for the grand total of 2 movie trailers I tried -
Exactly. Also, some fo the Acer sites/countries don't even have "configuration" tabs on their product pages.
-
More info... http://www.liliputing.com/2010/04/broadcom-crystal-hd-video-decoder-available-for-49.html
So, who's going to try it????
-
double post...
-
Anyone know how the su4100 performs vs su7300 and su9400? Is there any significant performance jump? The reason why I'm asking is if any of the aforementioned processors will be able to handle full 1080p videos or not. I know the intel gpu is rather weak so is that a bottleneck with HD/mkv files?
-
People need to understand that the GPU is capable of decoding H.264 videos... the cpu isn't even a factor...
I was watching Victoria Secret Fashion Show in 1080i on the plane and the CPU was hanging around 30%. -
Victoria secret fashion show? You watch it for the fashions?
-
It probably will run it but with some hiccups. There's no point in watching 1080p on the laptop because the screen is too small for it. 720 is perfect for it.
-
Well, I'm more concerned about hooking the laptop up to a TV via HDMI... Don't really want constant stuttering when watching a clip.
-
My 1810tz has no problem at all with 1080 via HDMI on a TV.I think people are confusing 1080 through the internet(youtube etc)and 1080 through the hard disc or an outside source.
-
According to this benchmark:
cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
su4100 and SU7300 are virtually identically, though not sure how that translates to graphics... -
Read this,especially the second half.

How does the 1410/1810 cope with online streaming of 480p/Hulu/HD content from sites like NBC for example?
-
Good read. Thanks
-
Just got an AS1410-2497 in and noticed it has an 11.1v battery vs the 10.8v battery that came with an AS1410-2990.
Anyone know the reason for this? Are they interchangeable and if so which is better? -
Yes they are interchangable.Neither is better because it makes no diference whatsoever.
-
exactly, Video on laptop play through Window Media Player is hardware accelerated, which the INTEL 4500MHD is design for, while youtube video is software rendering, and even the high end CULV SU9400 will have problem getting 100% smooth. (my macbook C2D 2.0 GHZ can't even get youtube to play 100% smooth on 1080p).
If you want 100% smooth youtube 1080p, wait a few month, once Flash 10.1 (final release, not beta) comes out, you can play smooth 1080p youtube video to your hearts content. -
I'm trying to update my "Mobile Intel 4 series Express Chipset" driver software from existing version 8.15.10.1892 to the current version 8.15.10.2104.
I go to www.intel.com and run the web software that determines that a nwer version than mine is available fro download, which I proceed to download (file is WinVista7_64_15173.exe.
I try to execute it, but it fails with the message "the driver being installed is not validated for this computer. please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer".
So, I then uninstall the current driver and re-execute the file, which appears to install the new driver. I then reboot and cannot get past the windows logo. Can't even get into safe mode.
Only a system restore lets me get my system back - with the old driver intact.
What am I missing here? Is there a known (or unknown) problem with this driver? Or am I not installing it properly? Or what? -
My advice is stay with the old one.A lot of people are having all sorts of problems with the new ones.Other people can give you their input also.If the new one comes through win7 update just reject it.
-
thanks for the advice. appreciated.

Hi Frens,
I'm planning on getting a Acer 1810T Olympic Edition.
Which is the most Reliable & Trust-Worthy Online Retailer in CANADA...??
http://www.pricecanada.com/p.php/Acer-Aspire-AS1810T-8968-Intel-SU7300-LXPM402001-635261/
Also will GST (5%) & PST (8%) be applicable if i buy Online....?
Or is it charged regardless of whether i'm buying it online or at a brick & mortar Shop...??
Thanks. -
Was it really that easy to take the 1410 / 1810 apart to install the bluetooth module?
I'm going to do this so I don't have to use up a USB port for a mouse receiver. -
I bought mine online from future shop. I chose them for a few reasons:
1. they have a very decent return policy
2. i had a fs gift coupon I could use against the purchase
3. They have a good reputation - as long as you don't buy any extended warranties.
And, yes, I did have to pay pst and gst.
I was also able to get a further $25 credit after placing order because of "perceived" shipping delays. (don't ask).
I would not hesitate on recommending fs again.
Irrespective of who you purchase from, make sure you're getting the true "Olympic Edition".
Check for:
- SU9400 1.4 Mhz cpu
- 4gb 800Mhz memory (you may be able to ensure the 800Mhz part only by opening up the bottom panel
- silver
- 400gb disk (may be larger now)
- includes bluetooth
also: w7hp64 o/s
Oh, and I paid $749+pst+gst -$25 -giftcoupon -
I'd just walk into Memory Express and get them to do a pricematch. They do that online as well. Here it is on their site.
-
Anyone know if the windows refund still works?
-
Hmmz is this a fake Olympic edition 1810 then?
-
There is an 1810TZ with the Olypmic lid, but what people normally refer to as the real Olypmic 1810t is one that comes with at least a SU9400.
It's not exactly "fake", its just not what most people assume on this forum is the 1810t Olympic. It's still a real acer product, but it's basically an 1810tz with an Olympic lid (that's why its called Olmypic edition). It's just another color, like red, blue, black, olympic. And the price isn't that bad. -
Nonsense semantics. What people normally refer to as the real Olympic 1810T / TZ are the models with the Olympic logo on them.
Also, Acer's site mentions that these Olympic models have "silver brushed-metal finish". If they're plastic and not silver brushed-metal finished, I'd email this link to Acer and tell them you got plastic instead of a metal finish:

I agree.Let's not forget the 1410 olympic edition.SO 1410-1810TZ-1810T silver with the olympic logo on them are the olympic editions. And no people don't necesserily mean the SU9400 when they refer to the olympic edition. And yes they are plastic.I know because I have held it on my hands.Unmistakably plastic.I think that ACER refers to the colour with the phrase "silver brushed metal".It's the name of the colour probably.
