I'm definitely interested but that SD resolution and 2GB RAM isn't gonna cut it unless it can be had for much less than the ~$590 a comparable 3810T is retailing at.

Also, could you link us to the user guide?

    My guess is cooling.

I am surprised at the LACK of attention this 11.6er has been getting. This is the only 1810T thread I could find, and details/info elsewhere on the internet is sparse.

Honestly I think this hybrid in between notebook and netbook will be a big bang if priced economically.

I opened up the guide and there are pictures of the notebook. Honestly i'm pretty excited for this thing to come out. Based off of everything this notebook would be alot better than alot of netbooks out there now. (And i did say notebook not netbook, Acer put this guide under their notebook section) Hopefully the price stays below $450 and gets 8+ hours of battery life!

To get all the details just go to Acer.ae {Dubai} then select drivers & downloads then just select

    Notebook
    Aspire
    1810T

    and then select documentation

I'm sure they will opt for Glossy Screen as that's cheaper :(

So after looking at the specs you notice no Dual Core or ATI ... which is a bummer.. an over clocked 751 will out perform this on multi-tasking :(
only real saver is the 45HD Graphics and the HDMI ...

yes, there no mention of any real graphics processor. If this thing comes in cheap it may be my second acer. But either way, i've read somewhere that the 751 will be reduced in price when this comes out to show the difference in levels.

Now I want to wait for the Lenovo 12 inch with Ion to materialize and see where everything stands!

No. There is no way an overclocked Z520 will beat the Core 2 Solo or even the Pentium in this. This is way faster.

Well I have overclocked a 751 and have also a 3810T ... from a user perspective .. mainly OUTLOOK they perform on par... got the 751 from a friend who was unimpressed with the speed ... so got it cheap.. overclocked to 1,58 (Stability) added 2 Gigs and installed CLEAN XP Pro... just passing the time till the 1810T... like I said from a REAL WORLD usage perspective not some test ware...results..

(Oh and added a 500GB Scorpio Blue just to speed things up :) tried a Samsung 64GB SSD but too small :))

yea i'm surprised that the supposedly slower Z520 will be just as fast as the CPU they plan on putting in, even when overclocked.

I will be really looking out for the 1810T to see how long the battery lasts, and its graphics power.

I'm just surprised that the manual is out before the unit is even out! They need to make this quick!!

I think the 1101HA would be more equal to the 751. The 1101HA has the same Z520 atom as the current 751. The 1810T should be faster than both.

Am I wrong to assume it will be cheaper than the bigger 3810T?

Someone posted a ~$700 estimate in this thread but most of the info sources on the 1810T so far have stated it will be priced between the 751 and the 3810T (whose sales it is expected to cut into).

Hello, I was exepcting the same, a price between the 751 and the 3810 ... BUT thinking logically now I'm sure it'll have a higher price :(
As the 3810 is more expensive than the 4810, I think the 1810 is going to be even more so. Just think about the likes of Sony Vaio TT, TZ it's comparable to in size. Miniaturization has it's price and it's moving into the expensive gadgetary cathegory an away from the cheap netbooks.

I really wish I'll prove to be wrong ...

Really, the 4810T costs less than the 3810T?

Over here in Australia, the 4810T with equal specs to the 3810T (SU3500), but with 70 GB more hard drive space, the 4810T costs more than the 3810T. It's logical, the price starts from the 3810T and increases for the larger 4810T and increases a lot for the even larger 5810T with the SU9400.

It's got the same parts as the 3810T, I doubt it will be significantly cheaper because the engineers had to work harder to cram all the components/cooling in a smaller package.

I found a report somewhere that said $669 starting price. We'll only know when Acer lets the cat out of the bag, which it should already!

well I have both a 3810T and a 751 (modded) and from a usage perspective its hard to tell the the 3810 "should" be faster remember the su3500 has no hyper-threading so the z520 makes up for it by being faster in multi tasking..

there are issues around the graphics but they will be fixed..

to qualify the modded statement its overclocked to 1,58 (setfsb) and a fast WD Scorpio blue...

raw "benchmarks" are not everything :)

    Please note that was $669 not $699. ( http://asia.cnet.com/crave/2009/07/20/netbooks-going-downhill-/)

Then again, the article never directly states it. It talks about CULV notebooks in general, and mentions the 1810T, uses a picture of it, and states "Starting at S$1000 (US $669.21)". The author has written previous pieces on CULV notebooks, and always references the 1810T specifically, so that's why I'm reading so much into it.

Who knows, this is all meaningless speculation as of now :|

The Core 2 Solo/Pentium is an out of order processor, Atom is not. This significantly helps it. Along with more L2 cache and a faster fsb, a Z520 cannot beat a SU2700 or SU3500.

    out of order ?

Mate No one is saying that it beats it... using it for normal surfing and outlook ... even opening up an excel file or power-point from an outlook email LOOKS and FEELs the same on both machines (I have them side by side)

what i am talking about is REAL world experience not benchmark-ed.. this is faster than that.. don't know if you remember the whole "MHZ rules" back in the 90's well that has gone out of the window as well as people could not see the point in having a 3+G machine sitting doing nothing while they type with 2 fingers and doing 15 wpm...

In fact I can compare these with my Sony SR46 latest model which screams through the benchmarks, but at the end of the day they ALL allow me to do my normal work... (Outlook,PP Ex) with the same experience.. and they all give me options, I can walk around all day with the 3810T & the 751 due to ~8 hours and less wait, than my screaming SR or my MacBook Pro.. the reason behind the 751 was to get the weight down, and i prefer it even to the works supplied Lenovo X200

Ah HA ... I compared the web-cam program using the performance meter in Windows... on the 751 its shows ~30% across "2" cores on the 3810T SU3500 it shows 70~80 utilization on a single core..

So "Dual" even if only Hyper-treading seems to allow the box to be more responsive, also switching tasks "seems" smoother on the 751. From all I can gain from the net the su3500 does not support hyper-threading which at the time was the big change both on Desktop - CPUs as well as on the first centerino chips... seems a step backward that the su3500 does not support these cool technologies which even Intel proclaimed at the time make for a better multi tasking and a better user experience

I did similar tests at a reseller. Using the performance meter in windows and simply playing back mp3 files in Windows Media Player, with visualization on: Alchemy Random.

Atom based Netbooks running XP felt more responsive with CPU meters not exceeding 30%.

Acer 4810T SU3500 running Vista felt more sluggish with CPU meters exceeding 60%.

First I blamed this on Vista, but now I'm not so sure..
I think I'm going to be sick!

Hmm... this is an interesting development.

EDIT: found some graphs (benchmarks?) on the SU2700 and SU3500. They are way above my head in terms of the technical abbreviations and stuff they use, but the site also has comparable benchmarks for a wide variety of desktop and laptop processors, which may give us a better idea of the CULV series' performance:

    SU2700

This computer will have a problem with online hd video from sites like youtube since it will tax the processor too much. HD video in offline video players will be better.

HD video playback in both 720p and 1080p will be better offline than online. Cool that your SU3500 can play hd videos online.

is this the comment your basing your judgement on

"the X-Slim X340's Core 2 Solo SU3500 is not fast enough to play YouTube HD content without dropping frames – you're going to need at least a dual-core processor to overcome that particular performance hurdle"

seems a bit lame to base your comment on a one liner. But each to his own..

My 3810T has no problems with Flash... the same is reported from many users here... guess we are all wrong..

    P.S. the 1810T has the same processor as the 3810T... SU3500 :)

The SU3500 will meet the average computer user's needs. Those benches show it's much much faster :) than the Atoms consumers have been snapping up in 1st-gen netbooks.
