    Hi!

I've had an Acer Aspire 1600 series laptop for the last two years. But lately my DVD writer has started giving me some problems. It has refused to burn DVD's and I've tried cleaning the lenses, which solved the problem for a while. And now it has stopped writing DVD's again and cleaning the lenses doens't seem to solve the problem (the DVD writer is a Matshita UJ811 I think).

Is it possible to fit a different, aftermarked slim DVD writer in my Aspire 1600 (say for example a NEC ND-6650)? But even if it is, will I be able to change the tray plate for my old one (so that it fits perfectly in the casing)? Has anyone done this before?

    Thanks!
