Hello,
Bit new to this so go easy on me... I have had my laptop for about a year - only got it for messing about on games and very little office work, however it got very full and some rubbish little virus's on it that norton couldn't fix.
My bright idea to recover it didn't go well - I ended up borrowing a friend recovery disks as when i searched the box it didn't have any in there - typical that after a year of having it the first time i have any problems it didn't come with disks, anyways - used these recovery disk - but they turned out to be for a different model (ferri model) so completely knacked it - wouldn't boot, got as far as loading windows before coming up with the fastest error (blue screen) ever and then restarts - keep cycling like this. I got a copy of Windows home edition (again not supplied with the thing) and installed this - this changed the FAT32 file system on my first partion to NFTS (or whatever it is) - i also spied the hidden partion (EISA) when i was doing this - after reading some other comments seems this is a secret recovery partion - nice that acer included this in the manual?? (maybe i'm blind though - i was very excited about the new piece of kit back then) so installed windows home edition from a proper CD - none of this copy lark. Used the CD key on the bottom of me laptop. now it boots and works fine - but i am interested if i wanted to i could go back to factory setting using this hidden partions now - and if i wanted to do this is it as difficult as it sounds??
any advice would be great - along as you don't confuse me to much - i'm no expert far from it![]()

Why would you want to in the first place?
I really no nothing of your model but I'd assume you'd need the Acer recovery program installed (whatever that's called ... and if I remember correctly it was the only component unavailable to download for my model). I seriously doubt it would work TBH but you could try it out (backup your personal stuff first and download all the necessary drivers from Acer ... actually do that anyway ALWAYS keep a backup of your drivers and apps) and if it fails then this time completely remove the hidden partition during XP re-install. Delete ALL partitions and then create a C: of around 10GB for XP and a D: as a storage area with the freed up space.
That's my advice anyway as as soon as I get a Laptop or Desktop I download all the drivers and apps and decide what's required then clean instal to give me a leaner and meaner uncluttered machine. The Acer 5633WLMi I bought a month or so ago had a 45GB C: and a 45GB D: Acer Recovery partition (this was not a hidden partition BTW) ... sorry but that's just crazy ... half my HD!
It keeps the machine costs down though I guess as Windoze licence is far less expensive OEM stylee.
