Hello,
I have an Acer Extensa 3002 WLMi (see signature) - this is an "identical" model to Aspire 1680 series except for the battery nd bluetooth.
Overall I am reasonably happy with the computer. I have a few issues and wanted to discuss if others have also experienced similar problem.
1. The fan started making a scratching noise - quite loud - when booting up. It seems to be touching the chassis - but makes this noise only at the time of booting up and never ever again.!
2. The right hand palm area gets warm on sustained hard disk activity. It is not uncomfortably warm , but annoying for a continuous user like me.
3. The speakers are quite terrible - they are loud but the sound quality is very squeaky.
4. The keyboard seems to be a bit "sluggish" - when I type quickly or play a game like Tetris [] then it skips a few keys in between. I might have fat fingers but I suspect that it is because the key "travel" is more than I am used to. (My Tetris scores have been shot to hell!)
5. Overall the computer is quite fast but seems to struggle once in a while for a second or two on some simple tasks as if waking up from a sleep - might be the HD cranking up from sleep mode - can not make out as can not hear it.
Was wondering if some of it has anything to do with the P-M.
Please note that points 2, 4 and 5 are relative to my experience with other notebooks. I have another Compaq and Acer notebook and have also worked extensively on another Sony notebook - all last generation machines - PIII - about 2-3 years old.
Please let me know if others have experienced same problems.
Thanks,
