    Hi everybody,
    I've read all previous posts about this problem.
    Also my pc turns off suddenly or smells like it's burning :eek: :eek: :eek:
    I just want to solve it in this way (for the pc owner is not a problem).

    I'm gonna change the termal paste ( blu and red arrow --> processor and graphic card) but I will not replace the big heatsink (yellow arrow), so I will leave opened the zone highlighted by violet square.
    I will replace the processor fan.
    I've a big doubt: graphic card doesn't have a thermal diode to measure temperature ... so do you think that it can melt without heatsink :eek: :eek: :eek: ?!?!?
    It will be refreshed by open air.
    let me know what do you think :)
    thank you in advance !

    I ran my x600 @ 600mhz rather than the stock 400mhz without issue. However your arrows are a bit wrong.

    Blue = CPU
    Red = Chipset
    Yellow = GPU heatsink

    I'd advise taking the GPU heatsink off and repasting.

    Also be sure to clean out the fins of the heatsink.

    I don't want to replace neither the heatsink nor the black cover in the violet square ! thanks for your reply but it's not an answer to my question !

    No, they put that heatsink there for a reason, your system will fail if you don't have it there.

    Sorry but I did not realise how basic the question was.

    Meaker is right- if you remove the heatsink the whole thing will either stop (emergency thermal shutdown) or simply burn.
