My Acer Aspire has been out of action for three months, as the motherboard needed replacing and Acer took their time sorting it out.
I finally got it back on Friday, only for the DVD drive not to work. It is recognized, but the driver is not working or is not there. As a result, the laptop doesn't recognise any CD's, rendering it useless as I cannot download any software I need. It appears on the Device Manager as an Unknown piece of hardware.
The DVD drive is a Matsushita UJ-840D. I have searched high and low to get a driver for it from the internet, but is not available.
Does anyone have the driver and can download it and send it to me? Or is there another way of fixing it? I would be extremely grateful for any help, especially if would mean not having to go back to Acer again to get it fixed.
Thanks.

In windows, press Alt + F10. This should bring up acer erecovery.
Is there an option to reinstall drivers and applications?
