i downloaded new bios for my laptop and followed instructions but winphlash says my bios is not flashable. what's wrong? anyone having same problems?

another thing: i have an crazy idea about soldering 2pcs of 32mb 2.86ns sdr memory chips on laptop's motherboard, and then flash new bios from 1692 or 1694... :) i'll try that when warranty is over...

Sounds pretty weird, I'd contact Acer about that. I have a TravelMate 4402WLMi, I just flashed the BIOS a few days ago for the first time, worked just fine.

    Dj,

Are you running the exact BIOS for your exact notebook? If you tried running a BIOS for the slightly different series/model, this could explain why it errored. Also, using a BIOS for a Taiwan based notebook on a US based notebook might fail as well as there can be slight differences in the DMI memory info.

If you are using the correct BIOS for your unit (downloaded from your regions Acer support site) and it still gives this error, I'd also recommend contact Acer.
