    Acer Aspire 1801WSMi,possible underclock?

    Hi,
    I just bought an Acer Aspire 1801WSMi but the fan make too much noise :( never stop because the cpu is very hot(I think)
    there is a possibilty underclocking the CPU? or change the fan?

    If its P-M you can under volt it using rightmark cpu clock utilty , I was able to get a drop from 38 C --> 32 C on a 1.6 Inspiron 9300 .

    Usually notebooks motherboards don't support such advanced option for undervolt and underclocking in the hardware level .

    If you dare you can use speedfan to control the fan speed , silencing it but keep a close watch for the temps .

    Also check your setting at the Acer original software that came designed to control those .

    Last resort is to use an external cooler which might be quieter ( check around ) and have the internal fans on slow or off .
